Egypt’s PWO eyeing up an October debut
Training continues for Cairo, Egypt’s Pro Wrestling Organization. WrestleMap recently caught up with one of the PWO’s head trainers, and former WWE superstar, Jesus Rodriguez (fka in WWE as Roberto Rodriguez) to get an update on the new Egyptian promotion.

Coach Rodriguez recently shared that he would be leaving Egypt for six weeks for several bookings in the United States. Rodriguez is set to make appearances at the Santa Ana Mini Mall and then for Global Lucha Libre in Escondido, CA on June 27th, Pale Pro Wrestling on July 24, Robles Promotions in Hidalgo, TX on July 31, and Next Level Lucha Libre in Sioux City, Nebraska on August 1st. During his time in the United States, Rodriguez will continue to virtually train the PWO’s wrestlers while they move forward with their in-person training with the rest of the organization’s training staff.

When Rodriguez returns to Cairo, it’s back to full time training for the coach and his students. The coach has advised that many of the students are still going through their first round of training and still aren’t quite ring ready yet. However, he did name a few promising students to watch out for when the topic was raised during our conversation.

Amongst the wrestlers and trainees named were Elham Bennu, Abdalla Elsayed, Ahmad Ragab, Adham and Adam. There is some training footage available on PWO’s social media pages and there is plenty of evidence of the wrestlers learning lucha libre techniques from Coach Rodriquez. This new genre of “Egyptian Lucha Libre” sounds very intriguing and we’re very excited to see what the final project will look like.

So when will we get a chance to see that final project? Coach Rodriguez says, “we are working on something for October.”
So while plans can always change in pro wrestling, October is the goal for the PWO to make their debut. Chances are that we’ll see the PWO Championship belt decided at the October event as the company alluded to when they released their first in ring footage a couple months back.
