This weekend’s ZMAK Wars event in Greece set to feature unique “Squid Game Match” based off of the popular Netflix series to determine number one contender to Greek Championship
Greece‘s ZMAK will be in action tomorrow, Saturday January 15th, 2022, for their ZMAK Wars event. The Greek company features top notch in ring action, a dedicated fan base and is known to put together matches with unique stipulations. This Saturday’s event is no exception as ZMAK is planning wrestling’s first ever (to our knowledge) Squid Game Match of this style! The winner of the match will be declared the number one contender to the ZMAK Greek Championship. ZMAK recently reached out to WrestleMap with an explanation of the rules for the innovative match. Here is what the Southern European company had to say:
Squid Game Match!
Once more, ZMAK is pioneering and is creating a brand new stipulation, based from the script of a series that was a massive hit in 2021 on Netflix. Squid Game!
In this, many performers will be fighting, at the same time, for their own sake. The huge difference is that there will be no pinfalls or submissions. Here enters the Squid’s Game!
RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT
At unsuspected points during the match, the famous doll from the series will turn her head towards the ring and at that moment every fighter will need to freeze.
Whoever is in motion, automatically will be eliminated from the match, and will have to withdraw from the match, with the referees’ orders.
Second Round??
For the remaining performer however, the night of ZMAK WARS (15th of January) will not be over… We are waiting for the announcements of the temporary general manager of ZMAK, Amelia, for his trophy, surviving from the squid game match!
There will be ten competitors in the Squid Game Match. Set to compete in the match for an opportunity at the Greek Championship later in the night are NJ, Hacker, Apollonas, Gedeon, Goliath, Jimmy Hashtag, Spiros Louis, Kriton, and Kounoupis.
Also on the card will be:
a ZMAK tag team championship match as the reigning champions Tombola will defend their titles against The Twins (Cain and Abel) and M2 (Babis and Mike Galousis) in a triple threat tag team match.
a triple threat match for the ZMAK Championship as champion Michelangelo will defend his title against Theo Pappas and the visiting Belgian Aaron Rammy.
a grudge match between former tag team partners Edi Xhepaj and Pano Sereti
Achilleas Sabbath will defend his Greek Championship against the winner of the Squid Game Match! The challenger will have a very tough road ahead of them if they’d like to leave ZMAK Wars as the new Greek Champion!

ZMAK considers ZMAK Wars to be their biggest event of the year so you know that the crowd will be hot and the action in the ring will be even hotter.
