Pakistan’s Revolution Eastern Wrestling and Botswana Pro Wrestling Entertainment reach working agreement

Pakistan’s Revolution Eastern Wrestling has been putting in a lot of grassroots effort to get more international recognition for their pro wrestling product. The company has formed relationships with wrestlers from All Elite Wrestling, having their belts defended backstage at AEW events by AEW talent. They’ve also traveled internationally to hold shows, most recently traveling to Nepal to participate in the big Nepal Women Wrestling Foundation show and defend some of their titles. REW has also formed relationships with wrestling promotions in several countries, making plans to hold joint events in their partner’s homelands, including a planned joint event in Turkey with the Turkish Wrestling Alliance in early 2022 (as long as the pandemic allows.)

That drive for international growth is continuing now as REW has announced a new working relationship with Botswana Pro Wrestling Entertainment. Plans between the two sides are already developing quickly and sources from REW suggested to WrestleMap that the two groups could be working together to hold a joint event as early as January 2022. In a recent post to their Facebook page, BPWE announced the new relationship and clarified that they will in fact be hosting wrestlers from REW in Kasane, Botswana in 2022. They have also indicated that potential future trips to Pakistan for members of the BPWE is also possible.

Botswana Pro Wrestling Entertainment is a relatively new, but very interesting group that has emerged recently. They have achieved some viral success with their “WWE Botswana” videos where they recreate classic WWE matches using their homemade ring, entrance way and video screen. As reported recently on our Twitter page, BPWE is the first group of pro style wrestling that we’ve encountered thus far in all of our hours (years?) of research on pro and pro style wrestling around the world that has built their own ring and set for wrestling purposes outdoors in Africa.

WrestleMap has also spoken with BPWE recently but prior to the announcement of this working relationship. The group indicated that while they are having viral success with their WWE recreation videos, they do have a desire to begin performing as original characters. The group has also recently begun to advertise that they are available for bookings. The relationship with REW and the booking availability may indicate that they are moving in the direction of also creating some original Batswana pro wrestling content which is very exciting. More pro wrestling and pro wrestling content being created in areas that aren’t usually known as pro wrestling hotbeds are always good news to us at WrestleMap. If the BPWE’s previous video success and social media interactions are any indicator, there is a very receptive and encouraging audience for Batswana pro wrestling.

In all, this relationship is a great idea. It should help provide both sides with some new ideas, new training techniques and should also help to improve the in ring product from both groups due to the experience they’ll gain and the knowledge they can share. Keep it locked to WrestleMap for any future updates on this relationship as it looks like things may be springing into high gear for these two groups possibly within the month!

Update 1/10/2022: REW and BPWE have instead decided to move their joint event to April of 2022. See below.
